Supreme Court
India's highest judicial authority, the Supreme Court, derives its establishment from Article 124 of the Constitution, which explicitly states, “There shall be a Supreme Court of India.” This institution was formally established on January 26, 1950, coinciding with the enforcement of the Indian Constitution. In its early years, the Supreme Court operated from the old Parliament House before relocating in 1958 to its current premises on Tilak Marg, New Delhi.
